1. CPUs 1.1 AMD CPUs 1.2 Intel CPUs 2. RAM 3. Wireless 4. Other Hardware ------- 1. CPUs ------- Any x86_64 processor is supported. The list of supported processors here is based on the information on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X86-64, which may contain more up-to-date information. 1.1 AMD CPUs Any processor marketed with AMD64 support. This includes Athlon64, Turion64, Opteron, and Phenom-based processors, and some, though not all models of Sempron, including "Palermo" E6 stepping and all "Manila" models. 1.2 Intel CPUs Any CPU marketed with EM64T, EMT-64, or Intel-64. IA64 (Itanium) processors are not supported. The supported models include: Atom, Core 2 (mobile processors before the "Merom" core are not supported), Xeon (since "WoodCrest"), and some models of Celeron, Celeron 4, Pentium 4, Pentium D, and Pentium Extreme Edition. ------ 2. RAM ------ Slamd64 supports as much RAM as the architecture and hardware can support. Slamd64's limit is technically 16 exabytes, though this is limited by motherboard and CPU support. ----------- 3. Wireless ----------- Slamd64 works with any wireless card supported by the Linux kernel on x86_64. Additionally, several out-of-kernel drivers work: - MadWifi (included in extra/) - ndiswrapper, where there are compatible 64-bit Windows drivers. ----------------- 4. Other Hardware ----------------- Any hardware supported by the kernel on x86_64 should work. Additionally, many proprietary drivers, such as NVidia, have x86_64 versions.
